Sunday Sun and Spatial Geometry
The sunlight was exceptional this morning. Sitting at the desk with my daughter for a couple of hours, we discussed how to intuitively understand the volume of geometric shapes. I've always felt that instead of having her rote-memorize formulas, it's far better to show her how objects stack and slice in three-dimensional space.
As an architect who deals with blueprints daily, I'm accustomed to observing the world from a foundational, logical layer. When she finally gave me that "Oh, I get it now!" look, the sense of satisfaction I felt was honestly stronger than completing a complex system design.
